descr         "While it should be regarded as highly unconventional to have mares fighting beside stallions, it is obvious that this is not always the case.  Some generals have no clear concept of how warfare should be run.  They point to battles of old where centaur and centauride fought side by side, as if the old ways were right.  We are civilized now, and with that comes responsibility.  The new ways don't demand of us to put our daughters at risk.  The only comfort to be found in the recent appearance of steel-clad centaurides is the fact that they mainly use crossbows and do not charge head first into battle as they would have done centuries ago.  The prudence and sensibility for which centaurides are known, while obviously disregarded in their choice of career, still seems to affect their choice of weapons and role in the battles."
